How It All Began

Courtney and Kristen have always loved the joy of entertaining and creating spaces that feel welcoming. Whether that looks like gathering around a Thanksgiving table, a Galentine’s Day gathering with your best friends, or even just a living room that makes you want to linger a little longer, decorating has a way of setting the scene and making moments feel special.

But behind the scenes, seasonal decorating often came with overflowing storage bins, weekends lost wandering store aisles, and a nagging concern that somehow everything would match once on display.

They knew there had to be a better way. That’s why Spruce was born.

Spruce allows you to refresh your home as the seasons and styles shift—without the waste, clutter, or hassle. This allows you the freedom to play, try on a new style for a season, and return to an old favorite the next. Because your home should feel as personal and ever-evolving as you.

Meet The Team

Courtney Sloan – Co-Founder & CEO

After buying her first home in 2024, Courtney discovered the magic of seasonal decorating and the way even the smallest touches could set the tone for gathering her closest friends and creating lifelong memories. What began as a personal love for curating her own aesthetic space soon grew into the spark behind Spruce.

Courtney brings her background in branding and marketing to every corner of the business by blending strategy, storytelling, and design to craft elevated and memorable experiences. At Spruce, she leads vision and growth—from developing partnerships, shaping the brand, creating content and campaigns, to guiding the business forward with equal parts creativity, strategy, and heart.

When she’s not dreaming up Spruce’s next big campaign, you can find her riding her horse through Virginia’s picturesque Hunt Country, planning her next adventure abroad, or gathering Pinterest inspiration for future home updates.

Kristen Shattuck – Co-Founder & COO

Kristen has always believed that a well-styled home is the backdrop for life’s best moments. But unpacking and restyling the same decorations year after year began to feel stale, and finding storage solutions for expanding decor selections was a hindrance. Kristen’s love for combining trending decor with family heirlooms inspired Spruce. Her passion for creating warm, welcoming spaces and her knack for organization make her the perfect counterpart in bringing Spruce to life.

With a strong background in operations and management, Kristen ensures that the big ideas of Spruce seamlessly translate into reality. She oversees the finances, logistics, and day-to-day operations—keeping the business running smoothly and sustainably while ensuring every customer experience feels thoughtful and effortless.

When she’s not streamlining processes or planning for growth, Kristen can be found turning everyday outings into mini-adventures—whether she’s hiking with her family, browsing a local bookstore, or “just popping in” to a museum for an hour (or three)—then heading home to Spruce Up her space where friends and family always feel welcome.
