Spring Reset: Breathe New Life Into Decor You Own

Spring Reset: Breathe New Life Into Decor You Own

The lightness in the air during spring often makes us desire less. We start clearing out closets and pulling together boxes for donation. Suddenly the vignette of moody candles and wool blankets that looked perfectly cozy in the winter feels a little heavy, so you might want to update your decor without accumulating more.

Listening to that urge to refresh doesn’t mean you need to overhaul your home to make it feel new again, though. Most of us already have the base for everything we need—it just needs a little editing, rearranging, and a fresh eye.

Here's how to work with what you own and create a home that feels as alive as the season outside:

1. Edit Before You Add

Before you move a single vase or sculptural accent, walk through each room and ask yourself: what still deserves its place?

We love the Mari Kondo method of decluttering—keep the items that spark joy, and let go of the ones that no longer serve your or your space.

If certain decor no longer suits your style, it might be time to let it go.

As you edit and add, resist the urge to fill every empty corner. A few pieces you truly love will always feel better than an overcrowded surface. After all, that breathing room plays an important role in decorating.

2. Reimagine Your Textiles

Textiles instantly shift the mood of a room.

Start with what already lives in your linen closet. A throw at the end of your bed can become a lighter layer for your sofa. Pillow covers can be swapped, mixed, or rotated to create an entirely different look.

If your room still feels a little flat, consider adding just one new element—a patterned pillow, a softer-toned throw, or a new texture to make your space feel fresh.

3. Style In Odd Numbers, No Matter The Season

Whether you're arranging a bookshelf, a side table, or a mantle, style in threes and fives. Odd numbers feel natural and visually appealing to the eye.

Vary the height of your pieces: Mix something tall (a vase, candlesticks) with something low and wide (a tray, a small bowl, or sculptural piece) and something in between.

Add one natural element if you can: a stem, a stone, a piece of driftwood. Grounding a vignette in something organic makes the whole arrangement feel intentional for spring.

Sometimes, though, you want something you simply don’t own. Maybe you want new accent pieces, to play with a different style, or lean into the current decor trends. That's exactly where Spruce Decor + Style (Spruce) comes in. Our rental decor collections are designed to layer seamlessly into what you already own—adding just enough to make your home feel cohesive and ready for spring gatherings without adding more to your storage bins.

Rent what you want this spring, whether for everyday enjoyment or hosting Easter or Passover. Enjoy your pieces, then send them all back.

Love this! It can definitely be hard not to shop every season when you feel like making some changes.
